Immaculate Conception Catholic Church furthers commitment to care for creation

Hampton, VA — Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will partner with Water With Blessings to bring clean drinking water to families in need. Pastor Fr. John Grace created a video to showcase the simple, inexpensive, portable, and efficient filter that Water With Blessings gives to families through their Navajo Nation Project.

In the 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’, Pope Francis calls us to recognize the “integral ecology” of the world. Each person and each ecosystem depend on each other. Partnering with Catholic Energies, Fr. John Grace has ensured that 100% of his parish’s utility power comes from solar energy. Now, he is shepherding his parish to address the water crisis in a personal and meaningful way.

These efforts are interrelated. As Pope Francis says, “We need only recall how ecosystems interact in dispersing carbon dioxide, purifying water, controlling illnesses and epidemics, forming soil, breaking down waste, and in many other ways which we overlook or simply do not know about” (LS 140).
