Laudato Si’ Week 2021 inspires Catholics around the world to protect our common home

In his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si’, Pope Francis lays out the moral imperative to protect our common home. Catholics around the world celebrated Laudato Si’ Week from May 16th – 21st.

Read the full encyclical here, or watch this helpful video summary of the first chapter: “What is happening to our common home?” Within the encyclical, Pope Francis renews the Church’s call for clean energy.

Catholic Energies is helping parishes and religious orders to answer the Pope’s call. For example, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hampton, VA, has transitioned away from fossil fuels. With the help of Catholic Energies, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church became the first parish in the Diocese of Richmond to install solar. The Diocese of Richmond has partnered with Catholic Energies in its effort to be the “greenest” Catholic diocese in the U.S.
